What does DonorConnection provide?
How to do it:
Pick a date. Saturdays are generally the best day of the week for an event. Events usually last from 3 to 5 hours.
Pick a location. The location should be somewhere easy for people to drop off items. Good sites are school parking lots, churches, work parking lot or loading dock, community centers, libraries, or friendly supermarket or retail parking lots.
Get help. Form a core event committee and line up volunteers to help with receiving and packing donations the day of the event.
Spread the word. The success of an event depends on the amount of effort that is put into marketing and encouraging people to donate. Suggested activities include posting event details on your website, Facebook, and in your newsletter, etc. Creating and distributing flyers. Hanging posters in public spaces. Sending out email campaigns and press releases.
