FREE, EASY AND TRANSPARENT

Raise funds from your existing support base, without asking for financial donations.

DonorConnection empowers nonprofits, schools, churches, and community organizations to raise essential funds for their charitable missions by transforming surplus computers and cell phones into financial resources.

Organizations simply need to inspire their existing network to contribute devices they no longer need. Next, just point them to an online donation form that we provide. Donors fill out the form, receive a pre-paid mailing label, and ship donations. DonorConnection receives the donations, data wipes and furbishes them, sells them, and then the associated organization receives funds for each reuseable device. It is a simple, transparent, no cost way way to raise funds.

HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1: Get a free portal

Partner organizations start by receiving an online portal. The portal includes unique code that is used to create a donation form that can be added to a partner's website. The portal provides reports on who donated, the devices donated, and the funds generated from each donation. There is no cost for a portal or to use the DonorConnection platform.

STEP 2: Spread the news

Once the donation form is setup, organizations need to encourage donors to use it. This can be done by sending out emails or doing social media post to an existing network of supporters and pointing them to the donation form. The best part is donors aren't asked for financial donations. They are asked to donate devices they no longer need, used laptops and cell phones.

The most common way for donors to send in devices is by mail. But we also provide other ways to collect devices, including drop off boxes, collection events and kiosks.

See collection tools.

STEP 3: Donors mail in donations

Once donors fill out the donation form they receive a pre-paid UPS mailing label to send in donations for free. Donors also receive Donation IDs for each device they plan to donate. Donation IDs are used to track who donated and which organization benefits from the donation. Donation IDs are associated with Device Passports, which will show what was donated and include the certificate of data destruction.

STEP 4: Donations are received

Donated devices are received by DonorConnection or one of its refurbisher partners. Custom software is used to data wipe, refurbish and test each device. The devices are then sold, and revenue is given to the associated organization. Non-reusable devices are properly recycled by certified electronics recycling companies.

STEP 5: Donors get Device Passports

Each donated device is associated with a Device Passport, which is a public webpage that gives record of what was donated, who it benefits, when it was donated, and the certificate of data destruction. The data wipe log is even recorded to a blockchain, which gives a permanent record of the event.

STEP 6: Portal is updated

Once donations are processed, the partner organization's portal is updated with details on what was donated, who donated, and the value of the donation. Organizations are usually paid each month.

STEP 7: Organizations get paid

Organizations are paid for each reusable donated device recieved as a result of their donation form. In general, devices must be less than 7 years old and functional to be considered reusable.

The payout list is available online here.
